Design and strategy for REI's promotional email program.
Gearmail (otherwise known as REI's promotional email stream) requires a delicate balance between product, inspirational content, current campaign direction, and email best practices to ensure that each message provides value to REI's customers while maintaining relevance within the digital sphere.
As a senior designer on the account, I was responsible for the template shell design as well as individual email concepts and creation. We received new project briefs on a weekly basis, requiring a nimble process and close collaboration across disciplines.
On a broader scale, I worked with the larger team including strategy and account services to develop program recommendations: I helped create, implement, and document A/B testing plans, sourced and analyzed competitive samples, and presented in quarterly client-facing planning meetings.
